The Valley Choral Society is comprised of singers from throughout the greater Sacramento, California valley and foothill area. The mission of the Valley Choral Society is to break down barriers and create a common bond by performing music that elevates the human soul and brings God's light to the community. The Fall concert series traditionally features Part I of the Messiah and beautifully arranged Christmas carols. A mixture of contemporary and classical work is featured during the spring concert series. In addition to choral members, other individuals volunteer their talents, which sustains the Valley Choral Society's mission and goals. Support for the Valley Choral Society comes through membership fees paid by members of the chorus and donations from individuals and organizations. The society dedicates its spring series performances to benefit Sacramento Area Habitat for Humanity chapters.
In addition to the annual fall and spring concert series, the Valley Choral
Society has performed with the Folsom
Lake Symphony Orchestra, the Sacramento
Camellia Symphony Orchestra, performed at the Sacramento
Interfaith Service Bureau's annual Dorothy Booker Memorial Musicale, participated
in the annual Wasatch Chorale Festival hosted by the Utah
Valley Choral Society of Provo, Utah, sung at the annual Senior Spectacular
formerly sponsored by KCTC
radio, inaugurated the original summer concert program at the Sacramento
Capitals Allstate Tennis Courts, and VCS has joined area choirs in the annual
"A
Call for Unity" concert, among other appearances.
The Mission of the Valley Choral Society is to bring God's light to the community, performing music composed with the intent to elevate the human soul.
